Gonzalo Vargas , full name Gonzalo Vargas Abella , (born September 22, 1981 in Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan football player on the position of striker .

Career

society

Before moving to France, Vargas was already active in Uruguay for Defensor Sporting Club (2001-2004). There he was a top performer of the team and scored 43 goals in 94 league games.

In 2004 Vargas moved to Argentina to Gimnasia y Esgrima de La Plata . For La Plata he scored a total of 27 goals in 55 games. On September 24, 2005 he even managed a flawless hat trick in a 3-0 win at CA Rosario in just six minutes.

In the summer of 2006 he moved to AS Monaco . This was followed by two loans to FC Sochaux and Atlas Guadalajara . Atlas Guadalajara then signed him.

In July 2010 a loan to the then reigning Argentine champion Argentinos Juniors was reported. In the 2010/11 season he played 22 first division games and scored four goals. He was also used twice (no goal) in the Copa Sudamericana . In 2011 a second engagement followed at Gimnasia y Esgrima de La Plata , also on loan. For the Argentinians he played 22 times in the Primera B Nacional and scored three times in the opposing goal. He was also used once in the Copa Argentina (one goal). From 2012 he played again in Uruguay with Bella Vista . In the 2012/13 season there were 14 first division games and one goal for him. At the beginning of 2014 he joined the second division club Rampla Juniors , for whom he played 12 league games and scored three goals in the remaining 2013/14 season. After the end of the season he left the Rampla Juniors with an initially unknown destination. In the 2014/15 season and beyond, there was no other professional station for him.

National team

He made his international debut on November 20, 2002 for the Uruguayan national soccer team . With Celeste he took part in the 2007 Copa America . Until his last appearance on June 26, 2007, he played ten games and scored three goals. (As of October 16, 2012)
