Copa Argentina
The Copa Argentina is the national soccer cup competition for club teams in Argentina . It is organized by the Asociación del Fútbol Argentino (AFA) . Its winner will qualify to participate in the CONMEBOL Copa Libertadores the following season.

For the year 1970, the South American Football Federation CONMEBOL launched a new continental cup competition launched, the Copa de Ganadores Copa , considered equivalent to the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup the UEFA should be established. To determine the Argentine representative, the AFA played the first Argentine cup for 1969. Because its winner, CA Boca Juniors , also won the national championship in the same year and thus qualified for the Copa Libertadores, the defeated cup finalist Club Atlético Atlanta competed in the Copa Ganadores de Copa instead.
Also in the 1970 season the Argentine cup competition was played, in which the CA San Lorenzo de Almagro and the CA Vélez Sársfield could reach the final. However, this was no longer played after the termination of the Copa Ganadores de Copa was announced by CONMEBOL.
The cup competition was only reactivated by the AFA for the 2011/12 season. More than 130 clubs from the seven upper divisions of Argentine football take part in it. Its winner now qualifies for the Argentine Super Cup and the "South American Champions League", the CONMEBOL Copa Libertadores .
