Gonzalo de los Santos da Rosa (born July 19, 1976 in Salto ) is a former Uruguayan football player and current coach.

Player career

society

At the age of 15, the Saltener came to the Uruguayan capital Montevideo and joined Peñarol and initially played in the Quinta División . The 1.89 meter tall midfielder was then allowed to train in the first team for the first time in October 1994. His real career then began in the Apertura 1995 (24 games, two goals) when he was used in the Primera División . He was also in the Apertura 1997 in the ranks of the Aurinegros and was thus part of the squad at the three championships in 1995, 1996 and 1997. Between 1995 and 1997, De los Santos made 62 league appearances and five goals for the Montevideans.

In the 1997/98 season he played 31 first division matches (two goals) for CP Mérida at his first international station . He was also used in seven games of the Copa del Rey . He made his debut with the Spanish on September 29, 1997 in the league encounter with Espanyol Barcelona . The last time he ran on May 15, 1998 against Celta de Vigo . For the 1998/99 season he moved to the then Spanish second division club FC Málaga . There he made his debut on August 30, 1998 against Eibar Segunda División . By the end of the season and the promotion he had then achieved, he ran in 17 league matches and scored two goals. There were also four games of the Copa del Rey. Even after promotion, he remained loyal to the club until the 2000/01 series ended. In the 1999/2000 and 2000/01 seasons, he has 36 (four goals) and 33 league games (no goal) and three cup appearances across the seasons. His last competitive game for Malaga was on June 17, 2001 against Deportivo La Coruña . In the two following seasons, Valencia CF was his employer. There he came to 30 Primera División appearances and scored two goals (2001/02 season: 13 games / one goal; 2002/03: 17/1). 2001/02 he won the Spanish championship with the club. There followed a season at league rivals Atlético Madrid . Valencia CF, with whom De los Santos was still under contract until 2007, had loaned him for a season with an option to buy. There are six Copa del Rey games (no goal) in addition to 32 league games with three goals for him. For a short time he returned to Valencia. After he played a single game on September 11, 2004 with the game of the second match day, his engagement there ended without any further competitive play. After another change of location, he played in 16 first division games for RCD Mallorca in that 2004/05 season . The coach presented him for the first time in the game against Deportivo La Coruña on January 9, 2005. 2005/06 again disregarded standing in the squad of Valencia, followed by two more seasons in Spain at second division Hércules CF . From his debut on August 27, 2006 to his last appearance on June 7, 2008, he played 23 league games in each of the 2006/07 and 2007/08 seasons and scored once in the opposing goal.

He then returned to Peñarol in Uruguay in August 2008, the starting point of his career, where he played from Apertura 2008 to at least Apertura 2009. In the 2008/09 season, the Aurinegros 18 in the 2009/10 season seven first division appearances for him.

National team

De los Santos was also a member of the Uruguayan national team , for which he made 33 appearances from his debut on August 25, 1996 until his last appearance on June 4, 2005, in which he scored an international goal. (As of October 16, 2012) In 1997 he was part of the squad for the FIFA Confederations Cup . In 2002 he took part in the soccer world championship and came on as a substitute.

Coaching career

After the sixth day of the 2013/14 season, he replaced Luis Duarte as the coach in charge of the Uruguayan first division club Miramar Misiones . There he resigned from his position on February 23, 2014.
