Good News is a musical with music by Ray Henderson and lyrics by BG DeSylva and Lew Brown . The book was written by BG DeSylva and Laurence Schwab. Laurence Schwab and Frank Mandel produced the show. In the piece, the George Olsen Orchestra was seen as a college band . It premiered on September 6, 1927 at Chanin's 46th Street Theater (now the Richard Rodgers Theater) in New York . The musical was very successful; it had the longest running time of a Broadway musical in the 1920s with 551 performances .

An American college musical. Tom is everyone's favorite and the star of the football team. He proposed to his friend Patricia. She wants to accept him if he wins the big game against the rival college. Because he failed astronomy, he is only allowed to participate in the game if he passes the astronomy exam. To help him study, Patricia introduces him to her cousin Connie. The two of course fall in love and Tom also passes the test, but what will happen to him and Connie if his team wins ...?
