Gottfried Anshelm von Lindenau (* October 8, 1693 ; † April 10, 1749 in Machern ) was heir, feudal lord and court lord of the von Lindenau family and owner of the two manors Machern and Zeititz.

His father was Wolf von Lindenau and his mother was Eva Maria von Warnsdorff (1655–1731). After his father's death, he became the new patron saint of Machern and Zeititz.

On April 10, 1719 he married Christina Elisabeth b. von Ziegler and Klipphausen (born February 11, 1701 Oberwumewalde; † April 26, 1774 Leipzig), the daughter of the Elector General Lieutenant and commander of the Königstein Fortress , Karl Gottlob von Ziegler and Klipphausen. The marriage with the general's daughter resulted in 16 children, including Heinrich Gottlieb von Lindenau and Wolf Gottlob von Lindenau .

On 28 May 1733 , the bell founder Johann Christoph Hiering from Leipzig made a large and a small bell for the tower of Machern Castle, which is still in existence today, on behalf of and at the expense of the von Lindenau couple . These bells were restored in 1988 and the renewed clockwork strikes them every full and quarter hour.
