Gottfried Christian Enslen

Gottfried Christian Enslen (born December 27, 1757 in Stuttgart ; † January 22, 1818 ) was a German painter .

Life

Gottfried Christian Enslen was the brother of the painter Johann Carl Enslen and the uncle of the painter Karl Georg Enslen . The details of Enslen's life are not known. Like his brother, he was determined by the first balloon flight in Montgolfière and together with his brother, the painter Johann Carl Enslen, from 1784 - for the first time in Strasbourg  - he had balloons soaring at annual fairs, some of which he and his brother painted with allegorical figures were. In contrast to his brother, Enslen settled down earlier. From 1791 to 1813 he is proven to be a drawing teacher and restorer in Strasbourg and probably ran several cafes there too .

Because of their close cooperation, the painters in the Enslen family are often confused with one another.
