Gottfried Daniel Hoffmann (born February 19, 1719 in Tübingen ; † August 31, 1780 there ) was a German law scholar and university professor .

Professional background

Hoffmann was accepted as an attorney by the Tübingen court on January 31, 1739 and on March 4, 1740 at the University of Tübingen with the dissertation De independentia juris circa sacra statuum ordinumque imperii germanici Evangelicorum intuitu Imperatoris et Imperii to Lic. graduated. On November 3, 1741 he became associate professor of law at Tübingen University , 1743 professor at the Collegium illustrious , on April 9, 1747 full university professor of constitutional and feudal law, 1767 court judge and 1773 Württemberg secret council. He was on 15 May 1745 in the Faculty of Law for Dr. iur. PhD . He also held the degree of Dr. phil.

Hoffmann was married three times. From his first marriage to Tabitha Harpprecht, a sister of Professor Christian Ferdinand Harpprecht , the legal scholars Johann Daniel Hoffmann and Christian Gottfried Hoffmann (August 12, 1756 - June 4, 1784) emerged.
