Gottfried Kruchen

Gottfried Kruchen (born September 13, 1913 in Bocholt ; † October 20, 1979 in Münster ) was a German theologian and professor of Catholic theology and its didactics at the University of Education in Münster .

Life

Kruchen was born on September 13, 1913 in Bocholt. After studying Catholic theology in Münster and Freiburg, he was ordained a priest on December 17, 1938 in Münster. At first he worked as chaplain and president in Marl-Hüls , Wettringen , Nienberge and Gremmendorf . The topic of his dissertation was "Bernhard Overberg's Bible: A Contribution to the History of Religious Education in the Diocese of Münster." theol. In 1956, Kruchen was a student chaplain at what was then the Pedagogical Academy in Münster, which later became the Westphalia-Lippe University of Education, Münster department.

Here he was appointed professor for religious studies and didactics of Catholic religious instruction in 1960. He held this chair until his retirement in 1978. In addition, since 1964 he was director of the St. Ansgar Works for the diocese of Münster , the purpose of which is to support and promote church tasks in the Nordic countries. In addition to his many years of activity as a university professor for students of the teaching post for religious education in schools, his special concern and work were the St. Ansgar factory.

In this context, he often went on trips to the Nordic countries with students and teachers during the semester break. His trips to Israel with students served as an object lesson in biblical studies . In addition to the University of Education in Münster, Kruchen established relationships with educational centers abroad.
