Gottfried OH Naumann

Gottfried Otto Helmut Naumann (born April 25, 1935 in Wiesbaden ) is a German ophthalmologist . From 1980 until his retirement in 2003 he was on the board of the University Eye Clinic Erlangen . Naumann's scientific publications deal with the pathology and microsurgery of the eye: structural elements of eye diseases and new microsurgical procedures on the anterior sections of the eye.

Naumann studied from 1952 to 1957 at the Medical Faculty in Leipzig . The specialist training took place at the University Eye Clinic in Hamburg . From 1965 to 1966 he was a Fellow in Washington, DC at the eye department of the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology .

From 1975 to 1980 he was full professor and managing director of the eye clinic at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen , and in 1980 he moved to the eye clinic of the Erlangen University Clinic as a director .

In 1998 he was accepted into the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina . In 2006 he received the Graefe Medal , one of the highest awards in German ophthalmology.
