Divinity Woman is a German silent film melodrama from 1913 with Eduard von Winterstein in the leading role.
action
The sculptor Max Winter is a recognized artist who believes that he has created his masterpiece in the statue that embodies nudity, which he calls the "woman deity". During this work, in which he really fell in love, he also fell madly in love with the model, the singer Helga Holgers. Winter's wife Elfriede and their child are written off by the artist and have to make room for the lover.
But the muse's affection for her artist did not last long, and one day Helga turned to the airplane pilot Hans Stork, who is piquant friends of Max Winter. Only after the plane crashed, in which he was killed, did Winter learn of his lover's infidelity. He begins to question his life and becomes a drinker. In an act of the final destruction of what he blames for his misfortune, the madman seeks salvation: In a fit of rage, Winter smashes his masterpiece “Divinity Woman” and then sinks to the ground, relieved.
Production notes
Divinity Woman was created in the spring of 1913 and passed film censorship in May of the same year. The two-act was probably premiered a little later.
Winterstein's theater actor may have made his film debut here.
