Gottlieb Heinrich Friedrich Leopold

Gottlieb Heinrich Friedrich Leopold (born October 5, 1765 in Lower Saxony ; † September 19, 1842 in Blankenburg (Harz) ) was a German educator and Evangelical- Lutheran clergyman in Blankenburg.

Life

Leopold was a son of the pastor Johann Leopold. He attended the Ilfeld monastery school and studied Protestant theology at the Georg-August University in Göttingen . From 1789 to 1802 he was vice rector and from 1802 to 1824 rector of the ducal grammar school Rudolph-Augusteum (today grammar school Am Thie ) in Blankenburg. Associated with this was the office of garrison preacher; the rector was also a subprior of the Michaelstein monastery . In 1824 he became superintendent and pastor at the local church of St. Bartholomew , prior of Michaelstein and Ephorus (school councilor). In November 1829, Duke Charles II awarded him the title of Councilor of Churches .

When in 1830 the previous Blankenburg inspection was elevated to a general inspection with supervision of the church districts (inspections) Blankenburg, Hasselfelde and Walkenried , Leopold became its first general superintendent . In 1839 he celebrated his 50th anniversary in office. A number of congratulatory letters were also published.

His extensive estate library was auctioned in Blankenburg in 1843.
