Gottlob Traugott Gabler

Gottlob Traugott Gabler (born March 27, 1800 in Großhelmsdorf , † June 24, 1849 in Freyburg (Unstrut) ) was a Protestant cantor of Freyburg (Unstrut) and local chronicle .

Life

Gabler was born in Großhelmsdorf near Eisenberg as the son of a teacher. In 1821 he moved to Freyburg and took up the position of vicar here . A short time later he also took the office of cantor. Gabler did a great job as a city chronicler. He wrote books about Freyburg, which due to the lack of more recent publications are still the basis of local history research today. He was retired in 1845 and only died of consumption at the age of 49 .
