The Gould Knoll is a mainly icy and rocky hill on Thurston Island off the Eights coast of West Antarctic Ellsworthland . It rises on the eastern edge of the Hale Glacier , where the latter flows into the Abbot Ice Shelf in Peacock Sound .

The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 2003 after William G. Gould of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration , who was involved in the creation of high-resolution AVHRR map material, including that of the Antarctic continent, between the 1960s and 1990s .
