Gröninger's brewery cellar was built in Hamburg in 1761/62 as the new front building of a brewery at Gröningerstrasse 22.

The Althamburger Bürgerhaus is today one of the last Baroque buildings in the Hamburg district of Hamburg-Altstadt and was listed as a historical monument in 1944 .

The narrow property originally extended to the Zippelhaus street . Access to today's customs canal and the Gröningerstraßenfleet enabled goods to be transported by water.

Beer was already brewed in this house from 1793 to 1893. In 1982 the Hamburg restaurateurs Ingeborg and Rolf Dehn acquired the building that had previously been empty for six years. They left in the restaurant Anno 1750 and Braukeller the brewpub "Gröninger Privatbrauerei" build. An amber-colored Pilsner beer is brewed . In 1995 they handed over the operation of the restaurant and the brewery to the Hamburg catering entrepreneur Jens Stacklies, who also runs the fish auction hall .
