Grün-Weiß Eimsbüttel (officially: Sportverein Grün-Weiß Eimsbüttel from 1901 eV ) is a sports club from the Hamburg district of Eimsbüttel . With around 2,700 members, GWE is one of the 30 largest sports clubs in Hamburg. Twenty different sports such as gymnastics , fencing , soccer , handball , Sepak Takraw , table tennis and volleyball are offered in twelve departments .

The association is based on three pillars:

  • 1893 Fichte Eimsbüttel workers' sports club
  • 1901 FC Britannia
  • 1907 Ottensen 07

War-related events:

  • 1914 Renaming of FC Britannia to SV Blücher
  • 1919 Merger of SV Blücher and St. Pauli Sports Club
  • 1933 Fichte Eimsbüttel dissolved (resumption 1945)

The modern club:

  • 1946 Merger of St. Pauli Sport and Fichte Eimsbüttel to form Eimsbütteler SV
  • 1953 Fusion of Ottensen 07 and FC Grün-Weiß to Grün-Weiß 07
  • 1976 Merger to the Eimsbütteler sports club Grün-Weiß Hamburg v. 1901 eV

  • 1961 - 2-1 victory over Hannover 96 in the 2nd DFB Cup main round. Then 0: 2 against Werder Bremen.
