Life

During her student days, Hannelore Ratzeburg played football for the Hamburg district club West-Eimsbüttel and then for Grün-Weiss Eimsbüttel . The Hamburg Football Association recognized her potential early on. In 1974 she became chairman of the “Women's and Girls' Football” committee and was elected to the Presidium of the Hamburg Football Association (HFV) with a seat and vote in 1980 .

Until 1970, the clubs in the DFB were not allowed to play women's soccer teams. UEFA called on its national associations to allow women's football to be accepted into the associations because it did not want to allow women's football associations of their own. The DFB decided at the Bundestag in 1970 to approve women's football and in 1977 set up an additional position in the game committee; Hannelore Ratzeburg was elected to be the advisor for women's football. Since then she has represented German women's football . On their initiative, the women's DFB Cup has been organized since 1980 and the women's national cup since 1981 . She was also involved in the establishment of the women's national soccer team and the women's national leagues . At the DFB Bundestag on October 26, 2007, she was elected as the first woman to the DFB Presidium.
