The Grünalmbach rises on the western slopes between Greinspitze and Schneidegg in the Villgraten mountains . It initially flows down the slope in a westerly direction and on the left-hand side of the foot of the slope takes on the outflow from Ochsensee, Mondsee and Schwarzsee. The Grünalmbach then flows north and flows through the alpine meadows of the Ochsenalm and the Gumplaalm. In the Gumplaalm area, the Weißenfeldbach joins on the right, followed by the Innerbachalm and Auserbachalm alpine pastures. In the lower reaches of the Grünbachalm flows through a wooded gorge before it enters the Schwarzach Valley at Dölach and flows into the Schwarzach on the left.
