The Gründel is a side valley of the Roten Weißeritz near Dippoldiswalde in the district of Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains . In the lower section it is as a part of since 1974 conservation area, the valley of the Red Weißeritz reported.

location

The valley near the barrier wall of the Malter dam is known as the Gründel. It begins at the Seifersdorfer riding arena at a farm and merges into the Seifersdorfer Grund at a small railway bridge built in 1882 . In the upper part, the district road 9010, the Bergstrasse and the Paulsdorfer Kirchweg cross the reason. Neue Straße runs through the lower part. The Gründel is in the district of Seifersdorf.

The Alte Meißner Straße once crossed the bottom, parts of the path are still there. Several ponds were previously fed by the Gründelbach. Already in 1838 the reason was mentioned as a gudgeon . The small railway bridge crossing over the Gründelbach at the bottom was built in 1882, after the construction of the barrier wall, the railway body was removed here in April 1914. The hiking trail has been leading over here since June 1914 and immediately afterwards up to the Gründel. The Neue Straße once crossed the ground over a bridge built in 1909, during the GDR times the stream was laid in pipes in this section and a garbage dump was set up or filled up, over which the street now runs. A brick arch bridge built around 1910, over which a dirt road ran, was dismantled after the floods in 2002 . or filled. In 2002, the former meadow valley at the level of Neue Straße was reforested until just before Kirchweg .

Gründelbach

The stream of the same name runs through the entire length of this part, except for the piped upper part, which has been converted into a field.

geology

The valley consists mainly of gneiss rock, next to which quartzite can also be found.

Landscape protection

On July 4, 1974, the lower section was placed under protection as part of the "Tal der Roten Weißeritz" conservation area.
