The Grüntalkogelhütte is a mountain hut on the summit of 886  m above sea level. A. Grüntalkogels in the Türnitz Alps in Lower Austria . The hut was built in 1978 and is constantly being expanded.

The hut is located in Texingtal and can be reached from Plankenstein, St. Gotthard or Frankenfels via the Tiefgrabenrotte and the Schwabeck-Kreuz , a wayside shrine built in 1647.

The Große Pielachtaler Rundwanderweg 652 (optional) and the Texingtaler Rundwanderweg 6 pass right by the hut .

Due to the special location and the height of 886  m you have a view of the northern Danube area . In good visibility, for example, you can see the chimney of the Dürnrohr power plant around 60 km away with the naked eye.

Franz Ebner, who took over this role from Johann Rauchberger, has been the hut manager since 2013.

The Grüntalkogelhütte is popular with hikers, and there is also the option of sleeping in a mattress dorm for 20 people by prior arrangement. In addition to regular field fairs, the annual opening on May 1st and closing on October 26th are in operation. According to the hut book, 98,379 visitors were counted on the basis of self-registrations by January 23, 2020 . So currently just under 3,000 entries are made every year. You have to take into account that not every guest registers and that families or larger groups often only make one entry.
