Grațian Sepi (born December 30, 1910 in Valkány , Austria-Hungary , † March 6, 1977 ) was a Romanian football player . He played 81 games in the highest Romanian football league, Divizia A , and took part in the 1934 World Cup.

Career

Sepi began playing football at Banatul Timișoara , but moved to local rivals Politehnica Timișoara at the age of 14 . In 1928 he returned to his hometown club and was able to qualify for the finals of the Romanian football championship with Banatul , but was eliminated in the semi-finals. Sepi then moved to runner-up România Cluj , but moved on to local rivals Universitatea a year later, in 1930 , before joining the professional team from Ripensia Timișoara .

Since Ripensia was not allowed to participate in the Romanian football championship, which was reserved for amateurs, Sepi returned to Universitatea Cluj in 1931. Since "U Cluj" was one of the founding members of Divizia A in 1932 , he was there from the first match day and became Romanian runner-up. Since he was denied great success in Cluj, Sepi moved to the capital in 1934 to the top team Venus Bucharest . There he was Romanian champion in the 1936/37 season .

After the championship, Sepi returned to Ripensia, which dominated Divizia A together with Venus in the 1930s. There he had the next championship title follow in the 1937/38 season , but was hardly used as in the previous year. Sepi left Ripensia in 1939 and joined the lower class UM Cugir in 1940 , where he retired from his career in 1942.

National team

Sepi played 23 games for the Romanian national soccer team and scored 14 goals. He celebrated his debut on April 15, 1928 against Turkey . Although he was regularly called up to the national team, Costel Rădulescu did not nominate for the 1930 World Cup . Four years later , Sepi was used in the only game against Czechoslovakia .
