Herbert Eduard Ludwig Karl Hermann Ottomar Edler von Daniels (born March 31, 1895 in Arolsen or Gotha , † December 21, 1965 in Gütersloh ) was a German sports and SS functionary.

Herbert von Daniels joined the Prussian Army after attending school . After participating in the First World War , in which he was awarded the Iron Cross of both classes and the Wound Badge in Black, Daniels left the army.

In July 1935 Daniels officially joined the Schutzstaffel (SS) (membership number 258.002), in which he received the rank of Obersturmbannführer on July 23, 1935 with effect from July 2. On April 20, 1937 he was given the rank of Standartenführer. In 1938 Daniels became a member of the NSDAP ( membership number 6,034,799).

On October 1, 1940, Daniels was entrusted with the rank of senior government councilor with offices in Berlin and Prague as head of the IC (physical exercises) department in office group I (personnel) of the Reich Security Main Office (RSHA), a position that he held until September 21 Should be retained in 1943. After Daniel's older brother, Lieutenant General Alexander Edler von Daniels , fell into Soviet captivity after the destruction of the 6th Army in the Battle of Stalingrad in early 1943 and joined the National Committee for Free Germany , Himmler ordered Daniels to join the front should prove to atone for the "shame" of his family.
