Grabau is a district of the Lower Saxon community of Suhlendorf in the district of Uelzen and is located in the Lüneburg Heath .

history

Grabau is mentioned in documents in 1296 in the feudal role of the Count of Schwerin. The certificate reads: "Hec sunt bona sita ultra Alliarn que comes Helmanus Ribe de Thune recepit from eodem dues villas tantum, vi delicet Grabowe et Moyliz."

These are the estates on the other side of the Elbe, which Count Helmold von Schwerin gave his people as fiefs from his late father, Count Gunzelin .

Hermann Ribe von Thune owns two villages or so many from there, namely Grabau and Meussießen.

On July 1, 1972 Grabau was incorporated into the community of Suhlendorf.

Today 140 people live in Grabau (as of August 2010).
