The Graham River is an approximately 160 km long right tributary of the Halfway River in the northeast of the Canadian province of British Columbia . The river was named after John Robinson Graham, a surveyor who fell in World War I in 1916.

River course

The Graham River rises 9 km south of Robb Lake at an altitude of about 1800  m in the Muskwa Ranges , a part of the northern Canadian Rockies . It flows through the mountains in a south-easterly direction. In the lower 60 kilometers, the Graham River turns first to the east and, after leaving the mountains, to the east-northeast. Finally he reaches the Halfway River, about 70 km above its confluence with the Peace River .

Graham-Laurier Provincial Park is located on the middle reaches . Christina Falls ( ) is located about 95 km above the mouth of the river.

Hydrology

The catchment area of the Graham River covers approximately 2320 km². The mean discharge at the gauge 12 km above the mouth is 23.9 m³ / s. June is the month with the most discharge with an average of 90.8 m³ / s.

Fish fauna

Fish species in the Graham River include bull trout ( Salvelinus confluentus ), arctic grayling ( Thymallus arcticus ) and rainbow trout ( Oncorhynchus mykiss ).
