The Grainbelt Corporation ( AAR reporting mark: GNBC) is a local railroad company in the US state of Oklahoma . The company is part of the employee-owned Farmrail Systems Inc. That company also owns the Farmrail Corporation . The railway company is based in Clinton, Oklahoma and employs 30 people. The main cargo is grain, fertilizers, equipment for oil drilling companies, petroleum, cotton and chemicals.

Route network

The Grainbelt Corporation's route network covers 381 kilometers. The main route is the north-south route from Enid via Clinton, Snyder to Frederick . From Snyder, the company owns track usage rights over the BNSF Railway via Altus to Quanah (Texas) .

There are transitions to the BNSF Railway in Quanah, Snyder and Enid, to the Union Pacific Railroad in Enid and to the Wichita, Tillman and Jackson Railway in Altus and Frederick.

history

The Grainbelt Corporation was founded by Farmrail System Inc. to acquire the former St. Louis - San Francisco Railway line from Enid to Frederick from the Burlington Northern Railroad (BN). Operations started on August 31, 1987. In addition, the company received rights to use the route on the BN route to Quanah.

Vehicle fleet

In 2006 the company owned 17 locomotives (one EMD GP9 , one EMD GP20 and 15 EMD GP10 ). In 2007 the company acquired three EMD GP38ACs , a fourth GP38ACs and two EMD GP38s followed in 2009 . Older GP10s could be parked for this.
