The necessary power supply was integrated in the rails. The route ran close to the ground and could be driven through in less than 25 seconds. In order to extend the journey, however, several laps were completed in a row, so that only one train could be used at a time.

Area around the Grand Canyon Railway

The Grand Canyon Railway, along with the mountain railway , some planting and parts of the Phantasialand jet , in which the visitors were guided through the park, was housed in an artificial mountain range made of wood and plastic. The mountain railway was opened in 1975, the following year the mountain range was added for reasons of noise protection. In 1978 the Grand Canyon Railway was finally opened to visitors. At that time the attractions were still called bobsleigh run 1 and bobsleigh run 2. Due to its low route, the Grand Canyon run was hardly visible from the outside, but the lift hill and the first descent of the mountain railroad were clearly visible .
