The Minnesota Glacier is a 65 km long and 8 km wide glacier in the West Antarctic Ellsworthland . It flows in an easterly direction through the Ellsworth Mountains and separates the Sentinel Range from the Heritage Range . It is fed by the ice plateau to the west of the mountains and by the Nimitz and Splettstoesser glaciers . The Minnesota Glacier flows into the Rutford Ice Current on the eastern edge of the Ellsworth Mountains . Bowie Crevasse Field is at the kink of the glacier .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named the glacier in 1964 after the University of Minnesota , which sent reconnaissance teams to the Ellsworth Mountains in 1961/1962, 1962/1963 and 1963/1964.
