The Nimitz Glacier is 65 km long and 8 km wide glacier in the West Antarctic Ellsworth Land . It drains an area around 16 km west of the Vinson massif and flows in a southeast direction between the Sentinel Range and the Bastien Range in the central Ellsworth Mountains until it finally flows into the Minnesota Glacier .

It was discovered during a reconnaissance flight of the United States Navy's VX-6 squadron to create aerial photographs of the area between December 14 and 15, 1959. These images were used by the United States Geological Survey for mapping. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named the glacier in 1961 after Fleet Admiral Chester W. Nimitz (1885-1966), head of naval operations at Operation Highjump (1946-1947).
