Grand Avenue is a Danish indie rock band. Their sound, which is reminiscent of greats such as U2 , Simple Minds and New Order, is also enjoying growing popularity on an international level .
history
The story of Grand Avenue begins in London. The four musicians Rasmus Walter Hansen (lead singer and front man), Niels-Kristian Bærentzen (guitarist), Marc Stebbing (bassist) and Hjalte Thygesen (drummer) get to know each other at the School of Music. Soon they part ways again, only Rasmus Walter Hansen stays in London for a few years and tries his hand at playing guitar there. It wasn't until 2001 that he got in touch with his friends, who are now living in Copenhagen again - Grand Avenue was born shortly afterwards. Even though it is still in its infancy, the Danish radio stations are already interested in their demo recordings. A record deal with EMI follows . The graphic designer and brother of Rasmus Walter Hansen, Anders Walter , helps to design the album covers . Both the debut album Grand Avenue (2003) and its successor She (2005) are very popular with Danish rock fans. After two nominations at the Danish Music Awards , the band sees their chance for an international career.
The Irish engineer Richard Rainey, who for his work on All That You Can not Leave Behind by U2 already a Grammy won is taken as a producer on board. Finally The Outside was born , which was the first album to be released internationally.
As opening act for George Michael , Grand Avenue are now claiming their place in the international music business.
In 2007 she supported Sunrise Avenue on her tour through Germany . She has also toured the Netherlands , Germany, Greece , Denmark and Switzerland with her own program . Their second single from the album The Outside is called Bullet and was released on April 4, 2008.
In 2009 Grand Avenue recorded another album. Here they were again supported by Richard Rainey. The album was released on September 28, 2009 in Denmark only. A publication in other parts of Europe - u. a. in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, the Netherlands, Greece, France - took place in early 2010. The first single for Denmark was called Almost Gone .
Since 2009 Grand Avenue in Denmark, the label Playground Music Scandinavia under contract. The Munich promoter KBK and the Globe Art label, which is also based in the Bavarian capital, want to establish the Danish band in Germany.
