The Grand Central Düsseldorf is a real estate project of a private investor in Düsseldorf . Construction work began in June 2018.

The investor Catella Project Management is building 1,061 apartments and around 1000 parking spaces near Düsseldorf Central Station . Offers such as two day care centers, a fitness center, a supermarket, a day care facility for senior citizens and a service point with concierge are also to be built in the new quarter. The total cost of the project is estimated at 500 million euros.

The apartments are mainly being built in the high-priced class. However, the construction is based on the “action plan for the housing market”. In it, the city of Düsseldorf stipulates that at least 20 percent of the apartments must be built as social housing , strictly subject to price .

The old mail distribution center of Düsseldorf stood on the planned building site . In addition to two large halls next to each other, there were many offices as well as a shooting range and two bunkers in the basement.

In 2015, Catella Project Management GmbH bought the area near the main train station. She wanted to demolish the existing buildings. Until then it tolerated interim use . As part of this, many rooms are rented out as studios to artists at operating costs. Events were also held in the two large halls (e.g. company events, girls' flea market, etc.). Part of the building was also used for the shop.

In January 2018 it was announced that prizeotel will be the tenant of the hotel with 250 rooms.

Construction work on Grand Central Düsseldorf began on June 15, 2018 .
