Grange aux dîmes (Samoreau)
The Grange aux dîmes ( tithe barn ) in Samoreau , a French commune in the Seine-et-Marne department in the Île-de-France region , was built in the 13th century. The tithe barn on the grounds of the Ferme du Bas-Samoreau farm has been classified as a monument historique since 1926 .
The tithe barn was used by the manor , the Abbey of Saint-Germain-des-Prés , until it was nationalized during the French Revolution in 1791 to store tithe .
It is the only building that has been preserved from the ensemble of the large farm ( Ferme du Bas-Samoreau ). This included stables, a barn, a pigsty and a dairy.
