The Graves Farm Wildlife Sanctuary is a 607 acres (2.5 square kilometers ) wide reserve in Williamsburg in the state of Massachusetts of the United States . It is administered by the Massachusetts Audubon Society .
Protected area
For more than 125 years, today's protected area was a dairy farm . Today it can be explored on 1 mi (1.6 km ) of hiking trails through a mixed forest . Large mammals such as bears , deer , fishing marten , coyotes , lynx and elk , but also birds such as wood thrushes ( Hylocichla mustelina ) and owls can be observed . The cold rivers also provide a habitat for brook trout , stone flies , salamanders and frogs .
