Gregor Damschen

Gregor Damschen (* 1969 in Bochum ) is a German Latinist and philosopher .

Life

Damschen studied philosophy and Latin philology at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg , where, after completing his studies, he worked from 1998 to 2000 as a representative of the academic assistant at the seminar for classical philology. From 2000 to 2002 he was a lecturer , then from 2003 to 2007 as a research assistant at the Chair for Theoretical Philosophy at the Martin Luther University in Halle-Wittenberg . After a stay as a visiting scholar at the University of Notre Dame , he moved to the University of Lucerne, where he initially worked as a research assistant on a project for the Swiss National Science Foundation (2007 to 2010), then as a senior research assistant (2012 to 2015) and finally as a deputy chair for philosophy (2015 to 2016). From 2017 to 2018 he worked at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn at the chair for logic and basic research with Elke Brendel and the University of Cologne . Damschen is currently a research associate at the Institute for Philosophy at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg .

Focus

Gregor Damschen's main research interests include theoretical philosophy, in particular epistemology and logic , as well as philosophy of religion , philosophy of love and philosophy of antiquity . In medical ethics he coined the term SKIP arguments together with Dieter Schönecker .
