Gregor Rihar

Gregor Rihar (born March 1, 1796 in Polhov Gradec , † September 24, 1863 in Ljubljana ) was a Slovenian composer.

Rihar was a pupil of Anton Höller (approx. 1760-1826), as his successor as organist and rain choir at the cathedral of Ljubljana he worked until his death. He was considered an excellent organist and organ improviser.

He was best known as a composer of church music (masses, lamentations, hymns). He also published several collections of folk tunes and a wreath of four-part folk songs .
