The Gregory Rock is a nunatak in Marie Byrd Land in West Antarctica . On the icy Hershey Ridge in the Ford Ranges, it rises seven miles west-southwest of Linwood Peak .
The United States Geological Survey mapped it using its own surveys and aerial photographs of the United States Navy from 1959 to 1965. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1970 after Elmer D. Gregory, who was the aircraft maintenance team during Operation Deep Freeze in 1967 at Williams Field Airfield near McMurdo Station .
