Grete Schmedes

Grete Schmedes (also Margarete Schmedes , born October 1, 1889 in Breslau , † July 1, 1985 in Berlin ) was a German graphic artist and illustrator.

Life

Schmedes studied at the Royal School of Arts and Crafts in Breslau with Max Wislicenus and Karl Hanusch and in Berlin with Emil Orlik . As a freelance artist, she was in Breslau from 1922 and in Berlin from 1934. She liked the woodcut . She had illustrated several books for Sophie Reinheimer .

Grete Schmedes was a member of the German Association of Artists .
