Greudnitz is a district of the city of Dommitzsch in the district of North Saxony in Saxony .

The district of Greudnitz is located northwest of the city of Dommitzsch in the Elbe lowlands west of the river on federal highway 182 on an elevated level. The 294 hectare district is located in the Elbe floodplain on alluvial soils, which are mostly used as meadows and pastures. The areas outside of the floodplain sites mostly have sandy soils. On the territory of the municipality of Dommitzsch, not far from Greudnitz on the state border with Saxony-Anhalt, the deepest natural point in Saxony is located. The point is located in the middle of the Elbe 72.90 meters above sea level with an average water level of two meters downstream to the right bank.

history

The dead end village was first mentioned in 1454 as Grudenitz . In 1491 it was called Greudenitz and in 1528 Greudnitz . 16 people settled here in 1747. In 1818 there were 184 residents in the village. In 1946 the place housed 380 people. The church was first mentioned in 1500. In 1747 the Reinhart manor farmed most of the land . After 1945 this was nationalized . On July 1, 1950, Greudnitz was incorporated into Wörblitz . The village has belonged to Dommitzsch since 1999.
