Grievers is an Italian melodic death metal band from Milan that was founded in 2008.
history
The band was founded in June 2008 by guitarists and long-time friends Roberto Palmiero and Matteo Giugno. After the line-up had been completed by further members, a first demo with three songs was recorded a little later . In the same year bassist Luca Croci joined the line-up. After a few concerts, Michele Spallieri joined the line-up as the new singer and Salvatore "Syra" Siragusano as the new drummer. In spring 2009 the debut album Reflecting Evil was recorded, which comprises eight songs, and released in 2010 on the Italian label Punishment 18 Records . In 2011 the group separated from Siragusano, whereupon Valentino De Lucia joined as the new drummer. In their career, the band has played with Impaled Nazarene , Alestorm , Gama Bomb and Skitzo , among others .
style
Youthanazia from stormbringer.at wrote in its review of the album that it contains modern and technically sophisticated Melodic Metal, which occasionally uses Thrash Metal and Metalcore . On the album, "hard up-tempo leads [...] would be paired with melodic mid-tempo choruses and really impressive solos ", while avoiding the use of keyboards. The playing of the electric guitars is particularly characteristic. The singing consists almost entirely of growling and only occasionally uses a few high- pitched screams . Meaningless from metalglory.de also assigned the band to Melodic Death Metal, although he also noticed the lack of keyboards. In the songs, the band also processed influences from Thrash Metal. Some of the melodies reminded him almost of a Power Metal band, while the rest was more like an altar . The singing also sounds strong like that of Altar. All in all, there is Death Metal that relies on groove and melodies and does not use blastbeats or “finger breaker riffs ”.
