Charles Henry Ruffell (born September 16, 1888 in London , United Kingdom , † November 9, 1923 there ) was a British athlete .

Ruffell was characterized by its versatility. From 1909 on he was at the amateur championships of England ( AAA Championships ) regularly over 880 yards at the start. From 1912 he also completed obstacle courses. In 1913 he won the championship in the 2000 meter obstacle course.

In 1912 he was appointed to the British Olympic squad. In Stockholm he started in three disciplines. In the competition over 1500 m as well as over 5000 m and 10,000 m , he was eliminated in the first round.

Charles Ruffell completed other international assignments in cross-country skiing . In 1910, 1912 and 1914 he started for England at the Cross of Nations , the forerunner of the Cross Country World Championships . In 1910 he won the team championship with England.

During the First World War he served as a pioneer in the Corps of the Royal Engineers . Charles Ruffell died on November 9, 1923 at the age of 35 of complications from pneumonia .
