Grigory Orlov

Grigory Vladimirovich Orlow (* 1777 - July 4, 1826 in Saint Petersburg ) was a Russian statesman and scholar.

Grigoij Vladimirovich Orlov was a member of the Counts of Orlov . He was the nephew of Grigory Grigoryevich Orlov and Alexej Orlov , son of their youngest brother, Vladimir Grigoryevich Orlov († 1831).

He had been a senator since 1812, dealt with history, political science and literature and became a member of the academies in Saint Petersburg and Naples . Because of his health, he lived mostly abroad, namely in Paris .

He married in 1800 with Countess Anna Ivanovna Saltykowa (1777-1824), daughter of Field Marshal Ivan Petrovich Saltykow (1730-1805). The marriage remained without children.

His Mémoires historiques, politiques et littéraires de Naples (with notes by Duval, 2nd edition, Paris 1825, 5 vols.) Also appeared in German (Leipzig 1824). He also wrote: Histoire des arts en Italle (Paris 1822, 4 vols.) And Voyage dans une partie de la France (Paris 1824, 3 vols.). With him the legitimate male line Orlov died out.
