Grimmia hartmanii (German raspberry pillow moss; Syn .: Dryptodon hartmanii (Schimp.) Limpr.) Is a deciduous moss - species from the family Grimmiaceae .

The up to 6 centimeters large plants form loose, light to dark green lawns. The trunks do not have a central cord in cross-section and are evenly leafed. The leaves are bent and twisted when dry, protruding upright to sickle-shaped when moist. For a broader base they are gradually pointed long, have a strong rib reaching into the tip of the leaf and are clearly keeled in the upper half of the leaf with a V-shaped cross-section. Usually the leaf margin is bent back on one side in the middle leaf area. The upper stem leaves have a short, toothed glass tip.
The leaf margins are two-layered in one or two rows of cells from the tip of the leaf to over the middle, otherwise the lamina is single-layered. The lamina cells are all thick-walled, rectangular on the leaf base on both sides of the rib and up to about six times as long as they are wide, shorter to square towards the edges; the cells in the middle of the leaf are short rectangular to rounded-square and somewhat cupped.
The diocesan moss rarely forms spore capsules. Very often, however, there are yellowish to red brood bodies reminding of raspberries at the leaf tips .
Distribution and location requirements
Grimmia hartmanii grows particularly in deciduous forests of the low mountain range on lime-free rock in shady, moderately dry to fresh and humid locations. The moss is distributed over large parts of the northern hemisphere. The occurrences in large parts of Germany are classified as declining.
