Grizfolk is a Swedish-American alternative rock band from Los Angeles .

Band history

The Florida-born singer and guitarist Adam Roth went to California and performed there with the band La Vie from 2011 . He met the Swede Fredrik Eriksson, who had gone to the States as a music producer. Both first worked together on a project and then decided in 2013 to start their own band together with Eriksson's compatriot Sebastian Fritze. They brought in La Vie drummer Bill Delia and guitarist Brendan Willing James and first called themselves Griz Adams after the main character Grizzly Adams from the 1970s series The Man in the Mountains . They later renamed themselves Grizfolk .

With the online EP Indian Summer and in particular with the song Vagabonds with Nikola Bedingfield, Natasha Bedingfield's sister , they first drew regional attention in 2013 and were able to sign a record deal with Virgin Records . This was followed the following year by the EP From the Spark , with which they first entered the Billboard Heatseeker charts. In addition, the song Way Back When was included in the soundtrack of the animated film The Adventures of Mr. Peabody & Sherman . It took until the beginning of 2016 for the debut album Waking Up the Giants to be completed and released. It reached the top 20 on the rock and alternative charts and was also featured on the official Billboard 200 .
