Groß Niendorf is a district of Zölkow in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany).

geography

Groß Niendorf lies in a flat landscape with no major elevations. The place is in the middle of the city square Sternberg (15 km north), Goldberg (15 km east), Crivitz (13 km west) and Parchim (20 km south).

history

The municipality of Groß Niendorf, which was independent until December 31, 2011, was administered by the Parchimer Umland office based in Parchim. It was the smallest and northernmost community in office. The districts of Groß Niendorf, Hohenpritzer Siedlung and Ruester Siedlung belonged to it.

In 2007 the film Novemberkind with the actress Anna Maria Mühe in the leading role was partly shot in Groß Niendorf.

On January 1, 2012, the community came to Zölkow as a district.

Village church Groß Niendorf
  • Groß Niendorf village church , small stone church without a tower, end of the 13th century. The bronze bell without an inscription was cast in 1878 and hangs in the free-standing belfry built in 2015.
Every year on the 3rd Sunday in Advent there is a small Christmas market. The parish celebrates church services every 14 days.
