The Parchimer Umland district is located in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany) on the border with the state of Brandenburg . Ten municipalities have come together in this office to carry out their administrative business. The administrative seat is in the non-official district town of Parchim .
On July 1, 2004, the Parchimer Umland office was formed from the dissolved offices of Parchim-Land (7 municipalities) and Eldetal (8 municipalities). On January 1, 2012, Groß Niendorf was incorporated into Zölkow. In addition, the communities of Grebbin and Herzberg (the latter previously in the district of Eldenburg Lübz ) merged to form the community of Obere Warnow. May 25, 2014, the community was dam to Parchim incorporated and Severin after Domsühl.
The official area extends from the Warnow lowlands north of Parchim to the southern slopes of the Ruhner Mountains . The Lewitz nature reserve is located to the west of the office . The official area is crossed by the Müritz-Elde waterway , the Stör Canal , the Warnow and the Löcknitz . In the south it borders on the state of Brandenburg , in the west on the Office Crivitz and the Office Neustadt-Glewe , in the east on the Office Eldenburg Lübz and the Office Goldberg-Mildenitz . There are no larger lakes in the administrative area. The foothills of the Ruhner Mountains (e.g. Langer Berg east of Spornitz 124.8 m above sea level) are over 100 m above sea level. In addition to agriculture and the increasingly dominant wind power , tourism in particular is playing an increasing role. The Schwerin-Parchim airport , which is mainly intended for freight traffic, is also worth mentioning .
The federal road 191 ( Ludwigslust - Plau am See ) and the federal road 321 ( Schwerin - Suckow ) lead through the Parchimer Umland office . The federal motorway 24 runs in the south of the official area, the A 14 a little to the west of it . The Schwerin – Parchim and Ludwigslust – Parchim railway lines run through the office.

The office does not have an officially approved national emblem, neither a coat of arms nor a flag. The official seal is the small state seal with the coat of arms of the state of Mecklenburg. It shows a looking bull's head with a torn off neck fur and crown and the inscription “AMT PARCHIMER UMLAND • LANDKREIS LUDWIGSLUST-PARCHIM”.
