In the Zarrentin office , four municipalities and the city of Zarrentin am Schaalsee (official seat) have been merged to handle their administrative business. The office is located in the northwest of the Ludwigslust-Parchim district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany) and borders the Duchy of Lauenburg in Schleswig-Holstein.

The office does not have an officially approved national emblem, neither a coat of arms nor a flag. The official seal is the small state seal with the coat of arms of the state of Mecklenburg. It shows a looking bull's head with torn neck fur and crown and the inscription "AMT ZARRENTIN".
