The Sternberger Seenlandschaft office is located in the northeast of the Ludwigslust-Parchim district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany) in the lake landscape of the same name . In this office , 12 municipalities have come together to carry out their administrative business. The administrative headquarters are in Sternberg , with a branch in Brüel.
location
The official area extends in a hilly terminal moraine landscape east of Lake Schwerin . The administrative area is traversed by the Warnow and Mildenitz rivers. In the north, the official area borders on the districts of Northwest Mecklenburg and Rostock . The Große Sternberger See and the Groß Labenzer See are the largest of the numerous lakes in the office. The hub height at Hohen Pritz is 85 m above sea level. HN the highest elevation. The official area is almost entirely in the Sternberger Seenland Nature Park .
In addition to agriculture, tourism in particular plays an increasing role in the various lakes.
history
On March 28, 2001, the Sternberger Seenlandschaft office was formed with the eight communities of Borkow, Dabel, Groß Görnow, Hohen Pritz, Kobrow, Mustin, Stadt Sternberg and Witzin. Groß Görnow was incorporated into Sternberg on January 1, 2003. On July 1, 2004, the six communities Blankenberg, the city of Brüel, Kuhlen-Wendorf, Langen Jarchow, Weitendorf and Zahrensdorf were added to the dissolved office of Brüel . On January 1, 2016, the communities of Langen Jarchow and Zahrensdorf formed the new community of Kloster Tempzin.

Official seal
The office does not have an officially approved national emblem, neither a coat of arms nor a flag. The official seal is the small state seal with the coat of arms of the state of Mecklenburg. It shows a looking bull's head with torn off neck fur and crown and the inscription "AMT STERNBERGER SEENLANDSCHAFT".
traffic
The federal highways 104 ( Schwerin - Güstrow ) and 192 ( Neubrandenburg - Wismar ) lead through the Sternberger Seenlandschaft department . The federal motorway 14 touches the administrative area in the northwest, the only remaining train station in Blankenberg is on the Schwerin – Rostock railway line .
