Klinken is a district of the community Lewitzrand in the district of Ludwigslust-Parchim in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany).

Geography and traffic

The place is located ten kilometers south of Crivitz and about 18 kilometers west of Parchim. It is located in the flat Lewitz landscape north of the Müritz-Elde waterway . The largest forest area is the Klinkener Holz southeast of the district. The largest flowing water is the Klinkener Bach. To the northeast is the Klinker Plage nature reserve with the Klinkener Moor wetland . The Seefelds Tannen forest and the Klinkener See are in the vicinity .

The federal motorway 24 can be reached via the Neustadt-Glewe junction (20 km). Klinken is located south of the federal highway 321 and north of the B 191 .

The districts of Klinken and Göthen belonged to the municipality of Klinken, which was independent until June 6, 2009.

history

Klinken was first mentioned in a document in 1230 and was called Glineke until the 16th century . The place name comes from the Slavic glina for clay or clay , which indicates the location of the village on a layer of clay.

At the same time as the local elections on June 7, 2009, the formerly independent communities of Raduhn , Matzlow-Garwitz and Klinken merged to form the new community of Lewitzrand .
