history

In 1858, Groß Reken was combined with the communities of Klein Reken and Hülsten to form the Reken office with its administrative headquarters in Groß Reken. In 1938 the municipality of Heiden was accepted into the office and took over its administrative seat. In 1969 Groß Reken became part of the new municipality of Reken . It was not until 1975 that the Heiden-Reken office was dissolved and two years later Groß Reken again took over the administrative seat of the now independent municipality.
