Partial sand wall in the Reken mountains

The Rekener Mountains are a mountain range that extends directly north of (Groß) Rekens ( Borken district , Westphalia ) as a north-west foothills to the core area of up to 145.9  m above sea level. NHN high natural area Hohe Mark (with Rekener Kuppen) (main unit Westmünsterland ) connects. With a height of up to 133.8  m, they represent the center of gravity of the Reken hilltops , which run out to the west-northwest in the ridge of the mountains (up to 107.4  m ).

Geographical location

The Rekener Berge are located in the north of the Hohe Mark-Westmünsterland nature park flanking the Ruhr area to the north . They move in a west-east direction from the state road  829 between Heiden (south) and Velen (north), which separates them from the mountain range Die Berge (up to 107.4  m ) , which is connected to the west-north-west , to Maria Veen . To the south they are affected by Groß Reken, to the north they reach about as far as the federal highway 67 between Borken and Merfeld . The federal autobahn 31 , which runs in north-south direction, divides the ridge into a more gently undulating western part located on Heidener district and the higher central and eastern part on Reken area. The highest point of the ridge is the Melchenberg ( 133.8  m ).

Natural allocation

The ridge forms the natural area Rekener Berge (544.36) in the natural spatial main unit group Westphalian Bay (No. 54), in the main unit Westmünsterland (544) and in the subunit 544.3 Hohe Mark (with Reken peaks ). Southern slopes of the ridge, which are part of the natural spatial unit Hülsten-Rekener Kuppen (544.35), can also be assigned to the Rekener Kuppen west of the Midlicher Mühlenbach (in the upper reaches: Kuse Becke ) .

landscape

The Rekener Berge fall, similar to the mountain range Die Berge to the west-northwest, gently to the south and significantly more rugged to the north. Both are geologically (the westernmost) parts of the Upper Cretaceous Haltern Sands , which are also the actual Hohe Mark , which adjoins to the southeast as part of the natural subunit Hohe Mark (with Reken peaks) and the Borkenberge further to the east as well as Haard ( south of the last two mountain ranges) SO).

In the saddle between Schwarzer Berg in the north and Düsselberg in the south, in the Hülsten-Rekener Kuppen in the Uhlen forests, at about 80  m above sea level, lies the Teufelsteine (Düwelsteene) barrow .

Surveys

The surveys of the Rekener Berge include - sorted by height in meters above sea level (NHN):

  • Melchenberg ( 133.8  m ), , directly north of Groß Reken (including with radio tower Groß Reken Melchenberg with viewing platform)
  • unnamed elevation ( 111.9  m ), , west of the baking Bergs (s. u.) and the leading of Großreken by north-northwest K 11 and the southwest of this branching guideway Boll trench , of the Weiler Boll trench leads
  • nameless elevation ( 109.5  m ), , between Groß Reken and Maria Veen south of the K 48
  • Backenberg ( 104.3  m ), , northwest of the Melchenberg, but east of the K 11 leading from Groß Reken to the north-northwest
  • Düsselberg ( 104  m ), , just east of the A 31, a little south of the K 11, directly east of the border between Heiden (west) and Reken (east); belongs to the west of the Hülsten-Rekener Kuppen, which is roofing over the Rekener Mountains to the south (see natural spatial structure )
  • Schwarzer Berg ( 102.9  m ), , west of the A 31 in the Heiden district
  • Wasserberg ( 101  m ), , west of the Black Mountain (see above) on the Heiden district
  • Sandberg ( 89.7  m ), , west-northwest of the hamlet of Wessendorf ( Dorsten district ); belongs to the west of the Hülsten-Rekener Kuppen, which roofs over the Reken mountains to the south
  • Lemberg ( 89.6  m ), , northeast of the hamlet of Wessendorf, not far west of Hof Lienemann (district Dorsten); belongs to the west of the Hülsten-Rekener Kuppen, which roofs over the Reken mountains to the south
