The Great Sand Desert of Bilma , French : Grand Erg de Bilma , extends in north-south direction for almost 150 kilometers from Bilma to Agadem ( Niger ).

In the east it extends to the border to Chad from the west it is about halfway toward Fachi in the Tenere - sand desert over. From Bilma to Agadem there are about 80, in some cases very high, main dunes with over 300 smaller dune chains to overcome.
