The Große Karpfensee is an inland lake belonging to the Uckermark Lakes in the municipality of Boitzenburger Land . The closest place is Conow, one kilometer away .
The lake is located south of Fürstenwerder in the Uckermärkische Seen nature park in the Uckermark district , Brandenburg on the state border with Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, into which it protrudes. It has a maximum length of around 1.3 kilometers and a maximum width of around 300 meters. The water is a glacial tongue basin lake and was created during the Vistula Ice Age.
The area around the lake is quite hilly and used for agriculture. There is a more or less wide forest edge along the entire lakeshore.
